“Guess things happen that way” es una canción del compositor Jack Clement que en 1958 se convirtió en uno de los grandes éxitos de Johnny Cash. Un tema de mensaje pragmático con un sonido country pop muy cercano a lo que hacía Buddy Holly con los Crickets. Aparece una versión en “Go tell’em”, el reciente nuevo disco del estadounidense Jay Ernest al frente del grupo siciliano The Don Diego Trio. Thee Headcoats son la banda liderada por Billy Childish (voz y guitarra), Bruce Brand a la batería y Johnny Johnson al bajo. Formados en 1989, en apenas una década desperdigaron 20 álbumes y decenas de singles, convirtiéndose en nombre imprescindible -y sumamente influyente- para contar la historia del garage punk. Afilados, sucios, irónicos, y absolutamente anticomerciales, siempre apostaron por la imperfección como forma de expresión artística. Esta es una historia tan interesante como hermosa. John Bromley es un compositor y músico británico que grabó un único álbum en 1969 para caer poco después en el olvido. Pablo Solo es un músico y productor cántabro que se cruzó hace poco con aquel disco y se puso en contacto con el inglés. Despedimos a Cheetah Chrome, pionero del punk estadounidense, guitarrista y fundador de los influyentes Dead Boys, fallecido este 13 de septiembre a los 71 años. Sus años de excesos marcaron una errática trayectoria posterior; dejó un escaso legado propio pero siempre se mantuvo como referente para las generaciones posteriores. En octubre de 1977 The Cramps y el productor Alex Chilton registran sus primeras grabaciones en los Ardent Studios de Memphis. De aquellas sesiones se extrajeron sus primeros singles, pero en realidad el grupo grabó un álbum completo que posteriormente decidieron desechar. Casi medio siglo después ese “primer álbum de los Cramps” acaba de ser desenterrado y editado bajo el título “Gravest Gravy” (Vengeance Records).Rematamos con otros fantásticos artefactos de arqueología musical;La disquera británica Hyper Loop Recordings rescata dos tremendos cartuchos del 60’s garage punk.
